Amazon is offering a $60 rebate on the HyperX SSD 240GB bare drive that brings the price down to about $380 after rebate.
Similar $60 rebates are offered on both the Kingston HyperX 240GB Upgrade Kit and the HyperX SSD 120GB Upgrade Kit
.
There’s also a $55 rebate on the HyperX SSD 120GB SATA bare drive that brings its after-rebate price down to about $160, but they have sometimes run out of stock on this model recently.
The terms allow rebates for up to two HyperX SSD products per customer.
Recent reviews and user experiences reported on Kingston’s HyperX SSD 120GB and 240GB drives are strongly positive. They are being regarded as among the top-performing consumer and small business SSD drives on the market to date with few of the firmware and instability problems often seen with many of the other highest-performance SSD drives.
Some enthusiasts who are really driving for maximum performance are using RAID 0 on these drives to get read/write performance around 1 Gbyte/sec when the drives are installed on SATA 3 interfaces supporting 6 Gbps transfer rates. When connected to the SATA 2 interfaces running at 3Gbps, you’ll see performance for a single HyperX SSD is limited by the disk interface.
Generally speaking, drives using the SandForce SF-2281 controllers like these do perform very well. These models are using synchronous Intel flash memory chips. Intel is reputed to be one of the more reliable flash memory manufacturers. With synchronous flash memory, the Kingston HyperX SSDs perform very much like the OCZ Vertex 3 and Corsair Force GT drives that also use SandForce SF-2281 controllers and synchronous memory. They are somewhat to significantly faster than the less expensive SSDs using asynchronous flash memory such as the OCZ Agility 3 and Corsair Force 3 lines of SSDs, depending upon the precise usage.

The essence of these reviews is that both the 120GB and 240GB capacities are excellent performers but the 240GB model is likely to perform better under heavy multitasking.
These Amazon special rebates apply to purchases from January 30, 2012, to February 5, 2012.
Newegg is offering similar rebates on these drives right now, too.
